Residents of Birnin Kebbi the state capital are currently grappling with acute public water supply shortage ,for over a month now taps connected to the state public water system went dry for an unexplained reasons,though some holdholds who dont wants their mentioned said,their taps were rushing when they suddenly went dry,according to them an overhaul of the supply unit was carried out but since then all taps connected to the main source stopped rushing.
They added that,they paid several visits to the water board and lodged complaints but were told to be patient as the authorities concerned are working on it,they lamented that, on daily basis they have to travel long distances to get water for their domestic works,those who can patronise water vendors spends at least a thousand naira on water which is even inadequate for regular uses.
However, after several visits to the office of the acting permanent secretary Aminu Umar was on seat Thursday but refused to speak on the matter,off record he said journalists can write whatever they wants to in an angry manner,on second thought the acting permanent secretary said water board is the body responsible for that, the acting general manager Kebbi state water board mallam Usman Kwasara was not on seat when a visit was paid to his office,as at the time of filing this report people are still seen with buckets and jerry cans in groups trying to access water as none supply persist.
