The immediate past governor of Abia state and now Senator representing Abia Central at the Senate, Senator Theodore Orji has decried the raising cases of death of young and intelligent men in the state.
Oji who was reacting to the death of the deputy chief of staff office of Abia governor, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, said that the rate at which men of substance and who are in the same age bracket are dying is very worrisome.
The concern of the former Abia state governor was contained in statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, which he titled “One death too many in Abia.
Oji said that death is agreed to be a universal phenomenon which takes both the young and the old, males and females including saints and sinners.
He said, “Once you are a living creature, you will certainly die but the big questions are, when and where?
Shockingly today across political and  party lines, tribes and religions, many are gone”.
The federal lawmaker regretted that death has been hitting hard on Abia state, “Where three prominent figures from the state who are almost in the age range have died within a short period which calls for concern for all”.
He said, “Excruciatingly in Abia, Hon Ossy Prestige of the House of Reps ,
Director General, Chidi Izuwa of the Presidency and Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor  of Abia State have  all gone and egrettably, all are almost in the same age bracket.
Unfortunately, all these men are noted for their zeal, unrelllenting spirit of sacrifice and unequalled protective advocacy in advancing the lives of Abians”.
Orji however asked a very pertinent question, who is next? Which cannot be answered by any living being.
He then concluded the statement by saying, “I urge all categories of Abians,  Bishops and knights, clergy and laity, saints and sinners to rise in prayers to abort more of such sudden devastating deaths. We cannot afford more sacrifices.
May God harken to our prayers in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
