As part of it’s efforts to extend free and quality health scheme to the citizens, United Nations has captured no fewer than 1,436 persons on it’s health insurance scheme in Wurno local government of Sokoto State.
The initiative which forms part of United Nations SDG joint social protection  programme in conjunction with Sokoto State Contributory Healthcare management Scheme, is designed to offer quality health to the citizens.
It was meant to enrol the vulnerable in the society to benefits from the scheme.
Speaking with our correspondent in Acida, headquarters of Wurno local government, Hajia Luba Mainasara, one of the beneficiaries of the exercise commend the United Nations for bringing the initiative to the community.
While expressing her appreciation,  Luba said the programme will go a long way to assist her and other people in the local government to access quality health care at no cost.
She however promised to make judicious use of the gesture alongside her family members who also benefited from the scheme.
She urged other beneficiaries in the local government to guard the card given to them judiciously so as enjoy uptimum benefits from the scheme.
Also speaking, Hajia Balkisu Nura, a pregnant woman who also benefits from the scheme, disclosed that the card given to her will surely help in taking care of her and the unborn child.
She said with the card given to her which guarantee free medical service for her, no more anxiety in attending ante-natal care in the hospital.
She said, “Most of our people who gave birth at home is mostly due to non-availability of money to go to hospital.
“Now that I am benefiting from this type of scheme, I have no reason not to attend ante-natal and give birth at the hospital when my baby is due” she added.
Nigerian Tribune recalled that United Nations joint social protection programme for health in Conjunction with Sokoto State government has initiated a social protection policy which is aimed at helping women, children and the elderly in the state to have adequate standard of living and good health care.
