The All Progressive Congress (APC), Sokoto State chapter has called for the sack of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, from office by the president.
The faction of the party in the state loyal to former governor of the state, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, also called on the acting chairman of the party and Governor of Gobe State, Mai Bala Buni, to immediately expel the minister from the party.
The factional chairman of the party, Isa Sadiq Acida, in a press statement while speaking with newsmen at the APC Secretariat in Sokoto on Monday in reaction to the Minister’s statement confirming a faction loyalist of Senator Abubakar Gada, Sani Mainasara an authentic state chairman of the party in the state.
Abubakar Malami SAN, who was in Sokoto alongside the former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, on the invitation of a member of House of Representative, Abdullahi Balarabe Salame, who gave out empowerment items to the people of his constituent.
According to Acida, “Abubakar Salami SAN, was also in Sokoto on the same mission with Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, he unfortunately chose the path of dishonor which dragged the name of his exalted office and the judiciary in the mud.
“As the chief law officer of the Federation, he openly made comments that preempted the judgement of the Court of Appeal which is yet to be delivered. By this singular act of recognizing a faction of the APC in Sokoto State, having known that the matter is still pending before the Court of Appeal, he has breached the sanctity of the Constitution and his oath of office, which require him not to allow his personal interest to influence his official conduct or decision.
“At this juncture, we call on Abubakar Malami SAN to resign his appointment as Attorney General of the Federation. This is because he has presented himself not to be fit and proper person to hold the office.
“Should he fail to do so, we call on Mr President to sack him, because his conduct is unbecoming of the holder of the highly revered office of the Chief Law Officer of the Federation.
“We also wish to call the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to expel Abubakar Malami SAN from. the APC, because of the numerous roles he played in destabilizing the APC in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara,Kwara States among others.
“Indeed, Abubakar Malami is a curse rather than an asset to the APC and the earlier he is cut to size, the better for our party
