Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has commended the people of the state for trooping out and casted their votes peacefully in the local government elections on Saturday.
The Governor sated this after casting his vote at  his local government polling units, Islamiya 011 ward in Tambuwal local government.
The governor who arrived the polling units at about few minutes before 11am casted his votes at exactly 10:56am.
He advised politicians especially participants in the election to play politics by the rules and respect one another.
“I called on all the participants especially those who may emerged winners of this election to respect the wishes of the people who voted them in.
“Also to the loosers, this is definitely not the end of the world as there are more good things to come.
“I also commend the people of the state for coming out and cast their votes for the candidates of their choice without any molestation or whatever”
Tambuwal further said his believe in democratic rule of government makes him to again conduct a new local government after the first one conducted by his administration in 2016.
He added, “we have done election for the local government in our first term in office and now we are doing it again for the second time in our second term.
“We all know that local government election is the foundation for democracy and local council chairmen are in a better position to improve on democracy and people should be allowed to choose their leader through local government election by electing those who they deem it fit to do the job”.
