The management of the Sokoto State Polytechnic has debunked a national newspaper report (not Nigerian Tribune) of tension in the school premises over allegedly killing of a student of the school by her college.
The management of the school led by by it’s Rector, Professor Aminu Ibrahim, stated this while addressing newsmen at the school boadroom on Saturday.
He disclosed that the two students were actually students of the institution but were both in National Diploma (1) as against National Diploma (2) reported by the newspaper.
According to Professor Ibrahim, “The two students involved are both in second semester of ND1 and not NDII, and are both from same local government area of Oyo State
“The incident did not happen in the school hostel as both students are off campus students, and the school is not shut as school activities are still going on as scheduled”
He further said that there is no tension whatsoever in the town while assuring that the suspects is still at the police headquarters for further investigation.
He also disclaim the student allegedly interview by the newspaper, Aliu Kareem, as neither a student of the institution nor a member of Federated Association of Oyo State Students in the school.
In his remarks, the representative of Yoruba community in the state, Dr Ahmad Tijani Surajudeen, commended the polytechnic authority for it’s steadfastness in the case.
Dr Surajudeen, who also represents the family of the deceased said the family appreciate the polytechnic and the government of the state on the issue.
