Senior staff associations of Nigerian universities (SSANU), the local chapter of Kebbi state university of sceince and technology (KSUSTA) have suspended its strike.
Jaafar Hamidu Bage who is the National public relations officer of the union said that, their chapter suspended the strike following meeting with the federal government team and the leadership of the union at Abuja “we agreed to suspend for two months because we have reached a common understanding with them, they gave us their words and we accepted, we also saw sincerity in what they told us,hence our reason to suspend the strike action he said.
The NPRO however said that, the KSUSTA chapter have their local demands which are implimentations of promotions, earned allowances and yearly increments.
He explained that, the union had written letters to Kebbi state government and the council of the university on their local demands, he ruled out embarking on local chapter strike but said that, the union will continue to engage relevant bodies on their demands till they are met.
Bage instructed striking members of his union to resume to work on Wednesday as agreed by the mother union and to give their best while the suspension period counts, adding that, his members did not experience” no work no pay” during the strike period.
