The Sokoto State Deputy Governor Hon. Manir Dan’iya said the incumbent administration has placed premium on healthcare delivery in the state since its inception in 2015, as well as education sector
A statement signed by the Director of Press office of the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar said the  Deputy Governor stated this when he received members of the Sokoto state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), who paid him a courtesy call to introduce their new executives.
According to Dan’iya: ”Gov. Tambuwal’s vision of providing education and health to the people of the state is visible in the amount of laudable projects that has been executed in the sectors since from day one of his government.”
“There is no doubt that the State government gave facelift to the  Specialist Hospital, some General Hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centers. In addition, the government is constructing two Premier Hospitals in Sabon Birni and Tambuwal, just as it is about completing a state of the art Diagnosis Centre as well as  a brand new university teaching hospital intended to complement the state university’s operations in health related studies and the provision of healthcare to the people,” Manir Said.
”As COVID-19 still visible around the globe, Governor Tambuwal, noted his deputy, has erected one of the best isolation centres in the country and approved the recruitment of volunteers from health institutions in the state to  boost manpower in the area”
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Sokoto branch of the NMA, Dr. Mohammad said they were at the Deputy Governor’s office to introduce their new executives as well as discuss potential ways to contribute their quota to the development of the health sector in Sokoto.
Dr Umar who said Governor Tambuwal’s drive in improving the health sector in the state is visible and worth emulating, also lauded the efforts of the current administration in the provision of modern healthcare facilities across state heath institutions.
He then added that now that Governor Tambuwal has provided the infrastructure, there is the need to increase the remuneration of health workers in Sokoto to Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).
The association also wants the state to  also facilitate its quarterly free medical outreach and surgical caravans to enable them assist the people of the State and beyond.
