President Bola Tinubu has urged Qatari business leaders to report any Nigerian official demanding bribes for business transactions, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to eliminating past corruption hurdles. Speaking at the Nigeria-Qatar Business and Investment Forum in Doha, Tinubu assured investors of his direct involvement in addressing issues and pledged decisive actions against any hindrance to the country’s prosperity.
Tinubu emphasized a reformed and upgraded Nigerian economy, urging investors to overlook past perceptions and consider the ongoing positive changes. He assured Qatar’s business community of a corruption-free environment, promising easy mobility of funds in and out of the country.
Highlighting the strengthened war against corruption and insecurity with the appointment of Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser, Tinubu asserted Nigeria’s openness for business. He welcomed Qatari interest in various sectors, including oil and gas, solid minerals, tourism, hospitality, healthcare, and more, urging investors not to miss out on golden opportunities.
Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani, expressed eagerness to explore opportunities in Nigeria, emphasizing joint objectives in low-carbon initiatives, mineral products, petroleum chemicals, industry, and consumables. The Nigerian delegation included governors, ministers, and key officials.
