Traditional rulers, military chiefs attend installation of Gov. Aliyu’s Security Adviser as Sadaukin Gwadabawa

The Sarkin Gobir Gwadabawa, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Lawal Zayyana, at the weekend installed Sokoto State Governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Colonel Ahmed Usman (rtd), as the Sadaukin Gwadabawa.

The colourful turbaning ceremony, held at the Sarkin Gobir’s palace in Gwadabawa Local Government Area, drew dignitaries from across Nigeria, including traditional rulers, serving and retired military officers, heads of security agencies, lawmakers, political appointees and community leaders.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by the Commissioner for Interior, Hon. Isa Muhammad Tambagarka, commended the Gwadabawa community for honouring its distinguished sons with traditional titles.

He explained that the Governor would have graced the event but for urgent official engagements, and urged the title holders to deepen their service to their people. He also prayed to Allah to guide them in their responsibilities.

Sarkin Gobir Gwadabawa, Alhaji (Dr) Lawal Zayyana, said the conferment was based on merit, integrity and Colonel Usman’s visible contributions to public service and community development. He advised the new Sadauki to consult widely, act with humility and represent the district honourably.

The Chairman of Gwadabawa Local Government Council described Colonel Usman as a people-centered leader who has consistently contributed to youth empowerment, women’s support initiatives and efforts to address security challenges in the district.

Speaking on behalf of the Special Advisers, the Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Sunusi Tukur Faru, noted that the title of Sadauki is traditionally reserved for individuals who demonstrate courage, dedication and service to humanity, describing the honour as “well deserved.”

The Majority Leader of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Bello Idris Gwadabawa, also lauded the honoree’s resilience, discipline and devotion to duty.

In a goodwill message, the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Dr Sanusi Mohammad, recalled knowing Colonel Usman during their years in the Nigerian Army, where he distinguished himself as hardworking and disciplined. He prayed for Allah’s continued guidance for the new title holder.

In his acceptance remarks, Colonel Usman expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah, the Sarkin Gobir Gwadabawa and the people of the district for the honour. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by redoubling his efforts toward the development of Gwadabawa, Sokoto State and Nigeria at large. He appealed for continued support, prayer and guidance.

Among those in attendance were representatives of the APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Chiso Dattijo; senior and retired military officers; district heads of Kware and Isa; members of the Sokoto State House of Assembly; and several other notable personalities.
