In a recent development at the Tripartite Committee meeting on Minimum Wage held in Abuja, the Organised Labour has staged another walkout. This action was prompted by the Federal Government’s proposal to increase the minimum wage to N60,000.
According to a source familiar with the meeting, the federal government raised its offer by an additional N3,000, bringing the total proposed amount to N60,000.
In response to the government’s offer, the organised labour reduced its demand to N494,000. However, this significant disparity in the proposed figures led to the walkout by the labour representatives.
This marks another setback in the ongoing negotiations between the government and labour unions regarding the minimum wage. Further updates on the outcome of the meeting will be provided as the situation unfolds.
