In a tragic incident early Saturday morning, a truck rammed into a Lagos State BRT bus at the Ibafo bus stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The accident occurred shortly before 6am and caused significant disruption and injuries.
Our correspondent at the scene reported that officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Police were present, although they indicated that only their Public Relations Officers were authorized to provide official statements.
Unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses suggested that several passengers on the BRT bus sustained injuries. The accident happened as the BRT bus was parked and loading passengers at the bus stop. The truck, loaded with cows and heading to Lagos, collided with the bus, pushing it off the road and into nearby shops and kiosks, causing further damage.
The truck carrying the cows has since been towed away from the scene to prevent further traffic congestion. The incident has drawn significant attention from locals, with onlookers recounting the chaotic aftermath.
Further details are expected as investigations continue and official statements are made available by the relevant authorities.
