Ndubuisi Ike, the Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, of Abia has assured the people of the area of massive infrastructural development.
He said security of his constituents would be given as his Council had been Prone to insecurity ranging from armed robbery, kidnappings and banditry among others before his Governor Alex Otti on assumption of tackled the criminalities within the council and other areas headlong particularly the Cattle market area which witnessed a lot of kidnappings and other criminalities. .
He disclosed that aswill take it’s turn,as security, education,health care, power supply among other areas, have been set as priorities to the new administration.
the Chief security officer of the Council he would synergize with Governor Alex otti of the Chief security officer of the State to fight insecurity.
Ike said education, healthcare services, power supply among others would be equally given their pride of place by his administration.
The Council Mayor a former staff of Shell Petroleum during a chat with BusinessDay in Umuahia assured that he would run a transparent and accountable government,wherein, good governance would be entrenched.
He appreciated the opportunity given to him by the Governor of the state to contribute in bringing the dividend of democracy to the people, adding that bringing on board the conglomeration of experienced technocrats would enhance development at the various local areas.
According to him, his government would have steady contact with the people of Umunneochi Local Government Area,to ascertain their priorities,so as to integrate them to the already prioritized sectors of the government, pledging a robust representation.
In his word,” We are redefining the narrative in terms of security. We have been working closely with the Governor even before now to rid the area of these security challenges.Am glad to announce to you that for the past three months, the issue of kidnapping has reduced drastically unlike what we used to witness.

The new Mayor, however, revealed that plans were ongoing to improve steady power supply to the area,for the purpose of helping small and medium enterprises to operate and as well, improve their productivity,while expressing appreciation to the Governor of the state for the opportunity to serve his people,.
He promised not to disappoint the confidence reposed on him by Governor Alex Otti.
Recall that Umunneochi LGA particularly the Lokpanta axis before Alex otti assumed office was a haven for kidnappings and other violent crimes.
