Vichel Pareenteen Initiative Sensitizes Students On Dangers of Peer Pressure, Addiction

The society is saturated with so many vices among which is drugs use and abuse which has negative influence on the youths. This informed the decision by VICHEL PARENTEEN INITIATIVE ( a non Governmental Organization) to take to educating youths on the dangers of drug use and abuse.
The Executive Director, VICHEL PARENTEEN INITIATIVE, Mr Uko O Uko while fielding questions from reporters intoned that the rate at which youths are getting hooked and addicted to several harmful substances is quite alarming. He advised parents to seek the help of a qualified counsellor, coach or mentor to guide their children and avoid the erroneous assumption that a child from a good home can’t be bad.
He further noted that both the good and bad kids live in the same neighbourhood, attend same schools, markets and worship center.

He advised parents to participate in seminars and workshops which are periodically organized for their good.
Mr Uko had earlier visited Iko Gateway Grammar School, Idiroko with his team members, Miss Benjamin Sussan and Mr. Ajayi Victor where both students and teachers were sensitized on “CONQUERING PEER PRESSURE AND ADDICTION”

The workshop discussed types of peer pressure, types of addiction, characteristics of addiction, addictive behaviour and how to stop addiction.

Students interviewed after the workshop expressed delight at the opportunity to learn about addictions and were definite about knowing how and when to say no to any act or association that will lure them into addiction.

Mr. Togbe ES and Alabi Phillip Oluwafemi both teachers in the School were of the opinion that the workshop was timely and needed to be a continuous process.

The Principal of the School, Mr Babatunde Kareem Adeleke also thanked the organizers and encouraged them to keep up the good work while helping to secure the Destiny of the youths who are the future of this nation.

Drugs, pornography and alcohol are three main vices youths easily get addicted to, however with proper education they will understand the harmful effect and stay away from it.

You may be struggling with an addiction today, it is not the end of the story for you .
He further opined that to stop addiction, admit that there’s a problem, be accountable to someone, break the habit, write down harmful effects of any of the addiction, discover a new habit and love yourself .

  1. Addiction is something youth would want to call flexing
    Mean while their life is at the edge of becoming worse… For me I would say this is something that has to be done regularly and in all units of the society, to educate the young generation on when and how to use the traffic sign wherever they find themselves
