Former Governor of Sokoto State and the leader of the All Progressive Congress in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has been nominated as a 2023 award recipient by a non-governmental organization, ‘the Initiative Against Addiction and substance Abuse in Nigeria (IAASAN)’.
Chairman, Board of Trustees of the organization and the Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, who signed the nomination letter explained that, the organization decided to bestow the award for Sen. Wamakko with the IAASAN Ambassador for North West Anti – drug Award 2023 following a random public survey conducted by the field officers of the organization.
The traditional ruler said Sen. Wamakko was recognized for his outstanding performance to humanity and philanthropic endeavours which were in tandem  with the organization’s mandate and objectives.
The award ceremony, according to the content of the letter is scheduled to hold during the forthcoming  IAASAN – Nigerian Army North-West Anti-drug and Narcotics Control Conference 2023 on the 9th and 10th of May, 2023 at Lt. Gen. T.Y Burutai Hall, Giginya Barracks, Sokoto.
A statement signed by the special assistant on media and publicity to the Senator said the organization, therefore, congratulated Senator Wamakko for the award and wished him all the best in the discharge of his duty diligently.
