Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the widow of the late former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has expressed disapproval of her husband’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, for endorsing the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in the upcoming state governorship election.
In a post on her Instagram page on Monday morning, Betty referred to Funke as shameless and suggested that time would reveal whether she is genuinely fortunate. The late governor’s wife wrote, “Behold the face of Aketi’s niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, the former deputy chief protocol to Aketi, shamelessly parades as ‘I am lucky.’ Bloody serpent! Time will tell if she is truly lucky!”
Following the demise of Akeredolu, Lucky Aiyedatiwa assumed the position of Governor of Ondo State on December 27, 2023. Akeredolu passed away from prostate cancer in Germany at the age of 67.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled April 16, 2024, for the governorship primary, while the main election is set for November.
