In an effort to open up rural communities for economic activities, the Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni says he has constructed 22 roads and drainages in 20 months of his administration across the major local government councils of the state.

Commissioner of Works, Engineer Umar Duddaye, told journalists that 16 of the roads and drainages have been completed and handed over while the remaining 8 are at the different levels of completion.

He, further explains it’s been over a decade when roads were last constructed in the local government headquarters.  He pledges more road constructions would be approved to the residents so as to reap the dividends of democracy.

This roads include Jajimaji, Gashua, Potiskum, Damaturu, Buniyadi, Babbangida, Damagum, Nguru township roads.  Others are 14 kilometer Damagum-Gubana road, Potiskum-Dachuwa-Garin Bingel among others.

Yobe, is an agrarian state in which over 70 per cent of the residents depends solely on agriculture and providing the infrastructure will open up the areas as well as create jobs to the teaming youths.
