The eight autonomous communities in Ututu, Arochukwu local government area of Abia State have unanimously endorsed Gov Okezie Ikpeazu to a second tenure come 2019.
But it pleaded with the governor and all the political parties to also support Ututu to clinch the State House of Assembly seat and end her marginalization since 1999.
In a resolution at the end of a meeting of Ututu General Assembly held at Prof J.K Onoh Civic Centre, the people also endorsed Senator Mao Ohuabunwa for a second tenure, but rejected the re-election bid of the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon Uko Nkole on account of non-performance.
The meeting which was attended by traditional rulers, Eze Ogos, political stakeholders including Chairmen of political parties, religious leaders, market men and women and youths also resolved that the Federal House seat should be rotated between Ohafia and Arochukwu for one tenure each so as to offer all communities the opportunity to taste power.
In the resolution signed by the convener of the Ututu General Assembly, Hon Obinna Nwankwo, it was agreed that since Arochukwu local government has taken its turn, the seat should move to Ohafia in 2019.
It however lamented that Ututu Clan has been politically marginalized since 1999 as no son or daughter of the area had held any elective post despite the fact that it has been the largest voting bloc in the local government.
The people therefore demanded as a matter of justice that other blocs in the area offer their support to Ututu to produce the member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in Abia House of Assembly in 2019.
They were however happy with Gov Ikpeazu and Senator Ohuabunwa for identifying with the people of Ututu through appointments and projects, saying they deserve re-election.
They explained that Hon Uko Nkole abandoned Ututu people after he was massively supported in 2015 and vowed to ensure that he does not return to Abuja in 2019 more so as the entire Federal Constituency has returned a verdict of non-performance on the federal lawmaker.
The people pledged to work with Ohafia local government to ensure that they take their turn in 2019 for the federal seat while it will revert to Ututu in 2023
