Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 General Election, has emphasized that the primary concern for all Nigerians, regardless of class or political affiliation, should be how citizens will survive the current economic challenges, rather than focusing solely on the next elections.
Speaking to a large crowd of party supporters during a solidarity visit organized by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter to the National Chairman of the LP, Julius Abure, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Obi highlighted the need for politicians to prioritize the welfare and security of citizens over electoral politics.
He criticized the tendency of some politicians to immediately shift focus to elections as soon as one electoral cycle ends, neglecting the pressing issues of citizens’ welfare and national security.
Obi reminded everyone present that political parties exist because Nigeria exists, emphasizing that it is the collective responsibility of all Nigerians to work together to ensure the survival and prosperity of the country, as “Nigeria is the only country we have.”
