The All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Abia state, Dr. Uche Ogah has said that the purported court order declaring
Chief Ikechi Emenike as governorship candidate is of no consequence to his candidature.
In a release signed by Chief Joshua Ogbonna for Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah Movement (USOM) and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, Ogah said for the fact he was not a party to the suit, makes the court ruling a nullity.
The release reads: “The attention of Dr. Uche Ogah Campaign Organization has been drawn to a purported order of an Abuja High Court declaring Chief Ikechi Emenike, a suspended member of our party, the APC, as the gubernatorial candidate for Abia State”.
“Dr. Ogah is not a party to the purported suit and therefore, the so called Abuja high court order is of no consequence to his candidature”.
“We hereby call on all Abians, APC members and our numerous supporters to remain calm as the distraction being sponsored by the PDP and Abia State Government is under control”.
“Dr. Ogah remains the only authentic candidate of APC in Abia State and will deliver in 2019, so that Abians will rejoice”.
It could be reached that Abuja High Court had over the weekend declared Chief Ikechi Emenike as the authentic governorship candidate of the APC in Abia state for the forthcoming governorship election.
The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Chief Emenike as the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Abia State for the 2019 general elections.
The court further ordered INEC to only recognize and accept all other candidates that emerged from the Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe led executive of the Abia state APC who emerged during the congress.
The court which was presided by Justice K. N. Ogbonnaya also struck out a motion filed by Uche Ogah to be joined in the suit.
In her judgment, Justice Ogbonnaya granted the reliefs sought by the plaintiff, Ikechi Emenike to declare him the Abia APC governorship for the 2019 general election.
Emenike in the suit sought for the following reliefs from the FCT high court, to declare and reaffirm the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe as the authentic one in Abia state as ordered by Justice Collington Okoroafor.
