It was home-coming for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate in the upcoming 2023 presidential elections, His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON), as he pays homage to the Lamido of Adamawa, HRH Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa.
The historic event at the Lamido’s palace had many dignitaries from across the country which had in attendance the Former Vice President, His Excellency Arch. Namadi Sambo (GCON), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National chairman, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State and running mate of Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential elections, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, the former Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Boni Haruna, the former Governor of Adamawa State, the Emirs of Mubi, Ganye and other emirates in the state as well as many other personalities and political associates of the former Vice President.
In his address, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar (GCON) who holds the revered title of Wazirin Adamawa, the second most important title in the Adamawa Emirate, stated that it gives him a feeling of nostalgia to be home to reunite with his people.
He expressed his gratitude to the Lamido and his Emirate council for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage at the historic visit, which is the first of its kind since he emerged the presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2023 general elections.
He acknowledged that his political sojourn all over the country would not have been possible without the prayers and good wishes from the Emirate. He equally pledged to be a good ambassador of the emirate, state, sub-region and the entire country and stated that history has beckoned on him to play that formidable role in providing good leadership.
In conclusion, he prayed for unity and prosperity of the people and for peaceful co-existence of all the ethnic nationalities that make up the country.
On his part, the host, the Lamido of Adamawa, welcomed Atiku and his entourage with joy and stated that Atiku’s emergence as the PDP standard bearer is quite significant; hence his success at the PDP primary election stands as a major breakthrough which will translate to a huge victory for Nigeria as the country currently strives to chart a new course for the future.
The Lamido stated that the emirate and the people of Adamawa are very proud of him for his enviable track records as a detribalized Nigerian, whose driving force is the peace, unity and progress of the country, noting that Atiku’s huge investment in human capital development is unrivaled.
Lamido expressed confidence in Atiku’s capacity to carry out the huge burden of leadership whenever it is placed on him. While praying for his success in the elections and future endeavors, he charged him as a famous apostle of unity in diversity to deploy his wealth of experience in public administration to reposition the country, which will improve security of the nation, ensure stability and guarantee prosperity for all.
