Dr. Mgborogwu who exclusively spoke to our correspondent in Aba Abia State said the president of Igbo extraction has become necessary to correct the anomalies in the political map of Nigeria adding that the North, the West and the South South have ruled Nigeria and the Igbos should be given the chance in 2019.
The national president who said the group had in a town hall meeting held in Aba tagged “Towards the reawakening of Nigeria. The instrument of Igbo presidency” supported an indivisible Nigeria but regretted the lopsided leadership of Nigeria where South East Zone was sidelined.
He noted that power is not given but acquired stressing that the group will adopt more globally accepted ways of acquiring power to the presidency of Nigeria by Ndigbo by reaching out to other sections of the country.
According to Dr. Mgborogwu, “we believe in the indivisibility of Nigeria in line with our constitution. We the IPON are calling our brothers from the North and West to join hands with the South East geo political zone to produce a Nigerian president of Igbo Extraction in 2019. It is unfair that in the 57 years of Nigeria independence, the leadership of the country has been lopsided against Ndigbo.
Dr. Mgborogwu maintained that the time to think of Igbo presidency is now. The time to dialogue for Igbo presidency is now.
We must build bridges of understating across all sections of Nigeria” he said.
“We have planned to hold a world Igbo convention in Aba before the and of this year to discuss on how to produce a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction. We are also ready to partner any political party that would hand over its presidential ticket to an Igbo candidate”.
