Labour Party’s (LP) gubernatorial candidate, Senator Athan Achonu, has expressed confidence that the judiciary will overturn Governor Hope Uzodinma’s re-election and order a rerun in Imo State. Speaking to the press, Achonu asserted that the recent election was marred by irregularities and malpractices, which he believes will lead to its nullification by the courts.
Achonu, who has been a vocal critic of Uzodinma’s administration, emphasized his commitment to pursuing justice through legal means. He stated, “The evidence of electoral fraud is overwhelming, and we trust that the judiciary will uphold the integrity of the democratic process by calling for a rerun.”
The Labour Party candidate, known for his advocacy on transparency and good governance, assured his supporters that he remains steadfast in his fight for a fair electoral process. Achonu’s declaration comes amidst ongoing legal battles and widespread calls for electoral reforms in Nigeria.
