A member of Sokoto State House of Assembly, Honourable Kabiru Dauda, has urged Sokoto State Government to ensure the full implementation of social protection laws in the state.
The lawmaker who represents Gada state constituency in the state house of assembly stated this during a three days training on how to draft agenda for Sokoto State social protection policy held in Birni Kebbi.
The APC lawmaker explained that the state assembly has put a law on ground which he said would have help Sokoto State Health Contributory Management Scheme (SOCHEMA) and other relevant agencies in the state to thrive.
He called on the state executive arm of government and it’s relevant agencies to always have the political will to implement laws and policies passed by the assembly.
Earlier in his remarks, the acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Usman Arzika Bodinga, charged lawmakers to unbundled SOCHEMA.
He said it is only in Sokoto that SOCHEMA is being operated under ministry of health, which he said is having a negative effects on the performance of the agency.
He however advised the lawmakers in the state to make it a separate commission with a Director that will oversee it’s activities and take decision on behalf of the agency.
