The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Sokoto State has assured that no individual is allowed to collect Permanent Voters Card (PVC) on behalf of another person.

The commission said only the person whose photographs appear on the card can only have access to collect such card in any of it’s office across the twenty three local governments area of the state.

Speaking while reacting to the rumours of the commission handing over the card to some of the community leader expecially those  in the security prone area for onward distribution to the owners, Muhammad Abbani Takai, denied such practice.

Takai, who is the head of Voters Education of the commission in the state confirmed every individual is only entitled to collect his or her personal PVC.

He said upon collection of the card, such persons shall be made to aphend his signature so as to ascertain the authenticity of the card.

Takai, while reacting to number of remaining PVC’s, said the commission can not get accurate numbers, saying the card is being given out to members of the public on daily basis.

“I can only assures you that people are collecting the card base on the report we were getting from our offices across the 23 local governments area”
