…As Party Faithsfuls Seek Akagburuonye’s substitution with a New Candidate with Capacity.
The last may not have been heard about the crisis rocking political parties in Imo State over governorship candidature of political parties, with the latest coming from a new but promising political party, Action Democratic Party (ADP).
The development, keen observers believe may confer undue advantage to candidates of political parties’ not presently undergoing crisis and given the November 2 deadline set by INEC for submission of governorship and House of Assembly candidates drawing very close.
The crisis rocking the Imo ADP revolve around the emergence of Chief Obioma Success Akagburuonye as the party governorship flag bearer over the preferred candidate with vast knowledge of Imo political terrain and has overwhelming support of party faithfuls in the state.
A source who revealed circumstances fanning the amber of party stakeholders in the state said the party has realized that the flag bearer who until this year was aspirant on the platform of the National Unity Party (NUP), emerged through the backdoor having dangled a bait to some leaders of the party but lacking the required capacity and competence to record remarkable success for the party in the state let alone wining the governorship.
The source was also quoted as saying “It took a man, to bring this party to the state, worked vigorously to give it recognition and have mobilized lots of people especially the youths, women to support his candidacy and win the election but suddenly someone else came up”
This development The New Narrative learnt has prompted some leaders and stakeholders and other party to withdraw their support from the embattled governorship candidate and have conveyed same to him.
The New Narrative can authoritative report that the odds now may favour a dark horse who has the support of the party leadership and also aligns properly to give the party the deserved victory in the elections given the zoning formula for the governorship among all political parties in the state already zoned to Owerri Senatorial District where the preferred candidate and Akagburuonye comes from to produce the next governor of the state.
Except the parties in crisis including the ADP work hard to beat the November deadline by the party, only the candidature of former speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can be said to stand a chance for the gubernatorial contest in the state.
