Zuma: Human rights activist urges NASS to compel Buhari to resign
Against the backdrop of the resignation of South African President, Jacob Zuma, over allegations of corruption, a human rights activist, Comrade Paul Njoku, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.
Njoku said that should the President fail to heed his call, the National Assembly should compel him to resign within 14 days.
Giving reasons for his call on the president to throw in the towel, Njoku alleged that there were several corrupt cases surrounding the Buhari administration.
“I urge the National Assembly to compel President Muhammadu Buhari to resign within 14days,” Njoku said in a statement made available to The New Narrative in Umuahia.
“Buhari’s administration is far more corrupt and utterly insensitive to the plight of the Nigerian people. In other words, the embattled Jacob Zuma is very saintly compared to Buhari,” the statement read in part.
Reeling out alleged corruption cases recorded under the Buhari administration, Njoku recalled that, “under Buhari-led APC government, ‘Operation Python Dance’ indulged in a genocidal mission in the South East against armless fellow citizens.
“Under Buhari-led APC government, hundreds of innocent people, pregnant women and their unborn/born babies are being gruesomely murdered in every part of Nigeria by suspected Fulani herdsmen.”
Furthermore, he said highly placed officials of the Buhari-led APC government, including the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, immediate past Secretary to the Federal Government, BabachirLawal and the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, have been fingered in corruption-related case.
He also said the controversy surrounding the $44 million belonging to the National Intelligence Agency smacks of corruption, just like the alleged $26b contract said to have been fraudulently awarded by the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, BaruMaikanti, without due process!
He also noted that latest version of corruption is the reported case of snake swallowing N36 million belonging the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), adding, “I will never be surprised if cows swallow INEC materials come 2019.
“Buhari should therefore resign like his South African counterpart,” he added.
