Olaolu Akeredolu-Ale, a talented Nigerian artiste, also known as Olaolu Slawn, has been chosen to design the 2024 Emirates FA Cup trophy, with the final set to take place this Saturday.

The 23-year-old British-Nigerian was approached by the English Football Association following his previous successful collaboration with the BRIT Awards. He collaborated with Thomas Lyte on the design of this one-off special trophy.

The news was first revealed by @whatsonshuffle via X, stating, “After previous endeavors with the BRITs Awards, Slawn has been commissioned to create the design for the 2024 FA Cup Trophy.”

Olaolu Slawn’s video showcasing the making of the FA Cup trophy was also shared on social media platforms.

Confirming the project on Monday through his Instagram handle, the Lagos-born designer expressed, “Biggest thing I’ve done yet. My tribute to the FA Cup trophy. Slawn and @ThomasLyte. Thank you @EmiratesFACup. Amen.”

The Emirates FA Cup responded eagerly, stating, “Can’t wait to see your tribute unveiled on Monday.”

Slawn’s artistic portfolio includes spray paint, large-scale pop art canvases, graffiti, caricatures, and murals. In 2023, he made history as the youngest person to design the Britannia statuette for the annual BRIT Awards.

His latest masterpiece, the FA Cup trophy, will be lifted by either Manchester club in the upcoming derby final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City clinched the EPL Championship title on Saturday and anticipates a fierce competition against their rivals for a chance at a double. Meanwhile, Manchester United, led by Dutch manager Erik ten Hag, aims to secure the historic cup to conclude the season with silverware and secure a place in the Europa League next season.
