Things are really getting worse and at the same time getting out of hand at Heartland FC, Owerri.
The latest illegal action embarked on by the deputy speaker of Imo State House of Assembly and the Commissioner of Sports, is to cook up a tragic football idea – the commissioner, with the support of the deputy speaker, infamously announced the crazy suspension of the general manager. This is not just laughable but really lamentable.
Looking at the document upon which the announcement for the suspension of the general manager was made, you will most certainly pity and sympathize with Heartland and Imo State.
To start with, the letter lacks all the necessary features usually associated with government’s official releases/ letters. The language was as incoherent as it was inelegant. Its diction was infantile and an indictment on Imo State Government and her people. The commissioner’s lack of tack was evident in the said letter.
Look at it this way, the commissioner, Dan Ogu, rather than stating that the GM was facing financial allegations, arrogantly and ignorantly went full blast. Without any fact, without any court pronouncement, without any gazatte from any judicial panel of inquiary, the commissioner went ahead to announce that the general manager embezzled and misappropriated funds. This is a heavy allegation that ought not to be made without all the necessary facts and figures. Yet, the commissioner never provided any.
Thus, how much did the general manager embezzle or misappropriate? And how much was assigned to his office? As a matter of fact, the commissioner made a wide and wild allegation without any evidence. This is an act of illegality.
More than anything else, the number one allegation against the GM is riddled with elementary mistakes that I closed one of my eyes reading the piece. It is absolutely shocking and nauseating to note that our dear commissioner of sports does not know the difference between “in experience” and “inexperience”. This is shameful.
It is very clear that the action of the deputy speaker and the commissioner in the illegal project of suspension of the general manager is sheer madness. The deputy speaker and the governor know they do not have such powers. Two, both men know that they never got such permission from the governor of the state. Their action is baseless and has no bearing. It will certainly be nullified within days.
As if Heartland FC have become a team for madmen, the deputy speaker and his men of no vision went ahead to unveil Mr Promise Nwachukwu the acting general manager. This is administrative ilitracy of the highest order. The deputy speaker and the commissioner announcing an acting general manager without the consent of the governor of the state?
A certain Nevil Okere who strutted Heartland corridors as the secretary during the dark days of the former PDP boss, posted that it was the commissioner who sacked and so it is normal for the commissioner to equally dismiss the current general manager. Okere forgot that his sack by the commissioner was a recommendation of a committee headed by Dr. Pat Ekeji. However, in the current show of shame, which committee or body recommended for the removal of general manager?
For those who do not know, the deputy speaker and the commissioner want the general manager out from Heartland, is anchored in miney. All the lies against him All the lies against the GM are meaningless This much will come to the fore later.
