The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has announced the departure of Vadao as head coach of the national women’s team after nearly two years at the helm.
Brazil suffered a Round-of-16 exit at the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup™ after a narrow 2-1 extra-time defeat against hosts France.
It was the second stint in charge for Vadao, who assumed the reins in late 2017 from Emily Lima. The veteran coach led As Canarinhas at Canada 2015 with the team also eliminated in the last-16.
Brazil will compete at next year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in Tokyo as South American champions.
“The CBF is working on defining the next name to run the women’s senior team as soon as possible,” the CBF said on its website. “We thank coach Vadao for his work and dedication, reiterating our personal and professional respect for him.”
