Nigeria Super Eagles are out of the Africa Cup of Nations after a 2-1 loss to Algeria. The Algerian winning goal came in the very last second of the added time.

The Algerians who commanded the first half got the first goal through an goal scored by William Troost-Ekong. But the Super Eagles recovered in the second half and profited from a penalty kick, which was only awarded after VAR review.

Odion Ighalo scored from the penalty box to remain the tournament’s highest scorer. The goal was his fourth on the tournament.

Towards the end of the game, the Algerians pressed hard to get a decicive goal. They realized their dream after a free kick at the dot of the added four minutes beat the Nigerian defensive wall.

It will now be Nigeria facing Tunisia in the third place match on Wednesday. It will be the eighth time Nigeria will feature in the losers’ final and had won that part of the tournament seven times.
