As the countdown to the countdown to the All Africa Senior Badminton Championship begins, the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has invited 30 players to camp. They are composed of 16 men and 14 women.
The continental fiesta is holding in Port Harcourt, Rivers State from April 22. According to a media statement from the BFN, all but one of the players are in camp. President of the BFN, Francis Orbih explained that Tosin Atolagbe is delayed from attending the camp owing to family commitments.
He explained that the BFN made great efforts to give fair opportunities to all top and upcoming players; the Federation spanned its scope of invitation to all parts of the country.
Top among those invited to the camp are Anu Opeyori, Godwin Olofua and Clement Krobakpo. Others among the men are Eneojo Abah, Habeeb Bello, Kayode Mope, Aliyu Shehu and Gideon Babalola.
Segun Idowu, Tunde Bankole, Ahmad Balarabe Umar and Daniel Christopher complete the array of stars Nigeria will be lining up for the continental championship.
Among the women are the lead players; Dorcas Adesokan, Deborah Ukeh, Tosin Atolagbe, Funke Aiyenugba, Ruth Ebere , Augustina Sunday, Peace Orji and Amen Christopher. The quartet of Ramatu Yakubu, Zainab Alabi, Aminat Ilori and Sofiyat Obanisola completed the ladies’ assembly.
