Customs Sealed off Car Dealers Offices In Kebbi

In a major crackdown by operatives of the Nigerian custums service raided and sealed off car dealers companies in Birnin Kebbi,the midnight operations was jointly done with the Kebbi State command and reinforcements from the federal anti smuggling squads.

Some car dealers who got wind of the planned operations rushed to their companies at midnight and removed some cars which led to the arrest of some them,as result some car tyres were slit by customs at Ajala motors in Birnin Kebbi.

Confirming the operation,the State chairman car dealers association Alhaji Muhammed Bala Dan Ali said personnel of Nigeria customs comprising of Kebbi and reinforcements from the federal government raided and sealed all car dealers offices in Birnin Kebbi on the order of the federal government, but contrary to speculation that,they came to seize car without duties, he said customs told him that,their operation is to ascertain the number of cars with duties and those without duties not seize any car.

He added that he and customs officials agreed that,those who removed their cars in various companies should return them to enable customs to take inventories, he assured them that no car will be seized.

On the arrest and shotting Dan Ali confirmed arrest of some members but said he was not aware of shooting at any place,he mentioned sai Allah motors,Ijaba,Gwandu motors,dogaro ga Allah motors,sauki motors and gamzaki motors as those sealed by customs.

As  at the time of filing this report armed customs officers are still seen at the various sealed car companies in Birnin Kebbi,the State command of the Nigerian customs didn’t react to it because they don’t have PRO except in Sokoto or Abuja,however efforts to speak to the national PRO Mr Joseph Attah were not successful as his number was not going through, but tensions are high in Birnin Kebbi over the crackdown.
