Fire has completely razed the University of Ibadan social interacon networking tools at the Faculty of Educaon. The fire outbreak, which affected social interactionon and networking equipment meant for teaching and non-teaching staff of the faculty, occurred Wednesday night.
The fire, according to a source, was as a result of power outage, which was also made worse by a cooking gas in the common room.
Before anything could be done to extinguish the fire, which started at nine in the night, a lot of damage had been done to all the equipment at a section of the faculty .
“As it rained heavily Wednesday night on campus, the fire had already affected a building inside the faculty, and many things had been destroyed before the situation could be recued., the source said.
The source also said, contrary to rumours going the round, only the common room of the faculty that was affected, and not the entre faculty.
However, a combined team of the Oyo State Fire Service and the campus security men put out the fire, thereby stopping it from spreading to other departments.
