The department of petroleum resources has sealed off seven illegal plants and three retail outlets refilling liquefied Petroleum Gas also known as cooking gas cylinders in Lagos.

The plants and outlets were shut for operating without licenses from the DPR.

Explosions at gas plants, refilling stations, fuel depots have constantly sent wrong signals to regulators of the oil and gas industry.

This is because it usually comes with loss of lives and properties worth million of naira. The Department of petroleum resources Lagos zone with its new leadership has commenced surveillance operations across the state in collaboration with relevant security agencies.

The motive is clear, to clear the entire zone off any form of illegal operations of oil and gas dispensing facilities.

From Lekki area to the mainland and later to Ifako area of the centre of excellence, the team lead says the federal government is focused on harnessing the potential of gas and as an agency of government illegal activities and gas explosions must stop.

The regulator insists that operators must operate in line with laid down rules and regulations or get their fingers burnt.
