The management and staff of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Okezie IKPEAZU on his ability to adequately fund the college the way he has been doing in the last five years.
They have accordingly advised Abuja based politicians to steer clear of the college and allow the governor to continue to play his fatherly role.
In a statement issued by the registrar of ASCETA, Mr Ikechukwu Odoemenam , the college decried the attempt by some politicians insinuate that they want to offer assistance because the institution was not well funded.
According to the statement,in as much as the college was not averse to outside help, such an offer must pass through the Governor who is the visitor to the college.
” It is insulting to the Governor of the state for someone to try to politize the funding of the college whereas Dr IKPEAZU has been alive to his responsibilities in that regard”, the college submitted.
It noted that in the last five years, all the proposals for funding of the college forwarded to the Governor by the Provost,Dr Phillips Nto had been approved.
According to it, the governor made it possible for the college to qualify for TETFUND projects as well achieve accreditation in all its key courses.
The least we owe such a man who is an academic and appreciates the importance of education is to remain loyal to him and not to be distracted by fake promises by unstable politicians”, the college averred.
It warned both the staff and the unions to desist from fraternising with such politicians who don’t mean well for the college.
