Renowned Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo recently welcomed his son Clinton Mbaise into the filmmaking world and decided to honor African traditions by observing a cultural practice. Kanayo accepted his son’s first paycheck from his work on set and blessed him as his father.

In a video shared on Kanayo’s Instagram account, he emphasized the importance of seeking a father’s blessing with the first salary earned, citing the cultural significance and the role it has played in the progress of many individuals in the country.

Clinton received N50,000 as his first salary after completing his first movie production with his father. Kanayo, as a gesture of honoring tradition, requested N500 from his son’s salary and prayed for his success in the industry.

The Nollywood veteran advised Nigerians to follow this cultural practice and give their first salary to their fathers for blessings rather than to pastors. He highlighted that only a father can provide the meaningful blessing a child needs.

Kanayo stressed the significance of fathers teaching their children financial management through such gestures, indicating that seeking a father’s blessing on the first salary is a tradition that promotes responsible financial behavior.

He discouraged the practice of giving first salaries to pastors, stating that it is not part of Nigerian culture and does not align with the values passed down from ancestors.

Kanayo’s advocacy for honoring traditional practices underscores the importance of cultural heritage in shaping individual values and behaviors, especially regarding financial matters.
