After series of case transfer finally upper area court 4 in Birnin Kebbi accepted to try Saratu Tukur Zaria the fourty years old woman arrested by operatives of hisbah on allegations of abducting a fifteen year old Aisha Muhammad na Jega and forced her into prostitution.
After her arraignment the presiding judge sanusi sidi cross examined the suspect by reading charges levelled against her by the complainants ( hisbah) she flatly denied charges against her, she told the court that she instead rescued the young Lady from a man whose name she didnt mentioned.
The suspect admitted keeping the girl in her house for over two weeks without the consent of the parents,which the judge said amounted to an attempt to abduct her with Malicious intentions.
Dissatisfied with Saratu’s side of the story Sanusu sidi the judge ordered the suspect be remanded in prison custody to be rearraigned next week Friday for hearing.
However officials of hisbah didn’t turned up for the case which people described as lack of commitments to their official duties of cleaning the state of immorality, in absentia the court asked hisbah to produce in court one Ali Abbas who was accused of having sex with the young lady alleged to have been at large but the prosecutor inspector Ahmed told the court that,they will lunch a man-hunt on him which he said will lead to his arrest and eventual prosecution.
