A business man and Philanthropist, Adomu Muhammed Etudaiye from Okene, has donated the sum of N 2.750m to over 100 indigent Kogi state secondary school students. The donation was made as payment for the registration of West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) for the benefiting students. The lucky students were carefully selected from 28 secondary schools across Kogi Central Senatorial District. The gesture was aimed at raising the standard of education across Ebiraland.

According to the representative of the donor, Hon. Habib Ikunaiye, the beneficiaries are children of the less privileged across Kogi Central who are billed to sit for the June/July Examination but could not afford the registration fees. He described education as the bedrock of societal development which must be at the front burner of state policies for even development. Ikunaiye, therefore called on other public-spirited individuals in Ebiraland to emulate the gesture by investing in education for the guaranteed future of Kogi children.

Ebira Youth Congress, a body committed to catering for the educational needs of Ebira Youths has been handed the responsibility of managing the donation and registering beneficiaries for efficiency and transparency. They are liaising with schools of beneficiaries and also assisting the benefiting students by ensuring that they are duly registered and guided. The managers of the donation have engaged reliable WAEC Registration Agents to ensure a hitch-free registration.

Speaking on the development, President General, Ebira Youths Congress Mr. Obiyo confirmed that over 100 students selected from 28 secondary schools in Kogi central Senatorial District are beneficiaries of the donation. He commended Adomu Muhammed Etudaiye for his kind gesture and prayed God to reward him. He stated that, as a stakeholder in the educational sector in Kogi State and custodian of the donated sum, ‘we shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the right things are done.’

Etudaiye also announced that plans have been concluded for the official launch of an   Educational Endowment Fund specifically dedicated to assist indigent students through the provision of scholarships and bursary.  He added that emphasis would be placed on those studying professional courses like medicine, law, engineering and agriculture among others.

In a separate remark, the Coordinator, Educational Task Force, Kogi Central, Muhammed Yusuf also commended Adomu Muhammad Etudaiye for his kindness and urged wealthy individuals and leaders of Kogi State to do same. The coordinator spoke at the meeting of Students Representative Assembly held at the Okene Library recently. He said the challenge before leaders should be to leave enduring legacies that will speak for them when alive and at such a time they had eventually departed this world. No one would ever remember you for the number of houses built or cash in one’s account but the life changing impact one has made in lifting the poor and vulnerable in the society from the ashes of want and poverty.”

Earlier, one of the students, Muhammed Abdulrahaman, of Standard College, Okuhanatahu who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries said “he had lost hope of writing WAEC this year knowing fully well that his parents might not afford the cost. The emotionally visible Ozohu thanked Etudaiye for giving him and others a life line to pursue their dreams. He promised on behalf of others to do the donor proud by coming out in flying colours.
