Amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged misappropriation of N10 billion meant for an airport project in Abia State, Governor Alex Otti has declared his determination to recover the funds or see the completion of the airport. Otti’s statements shed light on the murky details of how the funds were handled under the previous administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

During a media parley, Otti revealed startling information about the transfer of the funds, alleging that they were channeled through 32 different companies in tranches. He expressed concern over the lack of accountability and transparency in the handling of the project funds.

Furthermore, Otti emphasized that his primary focus is not on punishing individuals but on retrieving the misappropriated funds and ensuring accountability in governance. He urged all parties involved to cooperate with investigations and provide answers regarding the whereabouts of the funds.

The governor also promised to publish the full forensic audit report conducted by a reputable audit firm, which would shed more light on the matter and help hold those responsible accountable.

In response to the controversy, the previous administration, through former Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the funds were diverted to road infrastructure projects. However, Otti remains steadfast in his commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice prevails in the matter.
