As Muslims join their counterparts’ world over to celebrate this

year eid-el-kabir, chief Imam of Abia State, Shiekh Ali Ukaiwo has

advised politicians against acts capable of truncating the country’s

democracy as the nation gears towards her 2019 general election.

Shiekh Ukaiwo who stated this in Umuahia during sallah message on

Tuesday, enjoined politicians especially the Muslim faithful to see

the celebration as sober reflection to guarantee one united Nigeria

devoid of ethno-religious and tribal bigot.

He lamented that the wanton killing of Christians and Muslims as well

as the destruction of property of  ordinary Nigeria were uncalled for

noting that as a preacher of religion, killing of any kind under the

guise of religion remain condemnable before the almighty Allah.

“There is no compulsion in religion, we all own Nigeria. We all belong

here and we all have the right to self determination, we should

respect the rights and do unto others what we will do unto ourselves,

he said.

The chief Imam while congratulating the Muslim Umma for celebration,

also enjoined them to pray fervently for the peace of the nation

particularly as it is entering into another round of transition

program.

He further pointed out that “Allah is not a religious bigot, He is not

an oppressor or ethnocentric tribalist and unjust but always with

those who care for others” and therefore enjoined them for the need to

shun immoral acts.
