The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Abdussalam Abubakar has charged Warrant Officers to take personal responsibility for their training and retraining. The GOC gave the charge at a cocktail party organized by 3 Division in honour of candidates for the Warrant Officers to Master Warrant Officers Promotion Board 2023,  held at 3 Division Small Arms Range , Miango Jos.

General Abubakar who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion stated that for career progression and proficiency in discharge of assigned tasks, personal responsibility for training and retraining was paramount. This he said is in line with the Command Philosophy of the  Chief of Army Staff(COAS).  In his words”…the current dynamic security threats  has necessitated the need for continuous training and re-training of personnel for optimum performance in the field”, he averred.

The GOC/Commander OPSH, further disclosed  that although the  promotion board was an annual event in the Nigerian Army for elevation to the enviable rank of Master Warrant Officers,  it was also an avenue for testing the proficiency of Warrant Officers in weapon handling, drill, regimentation as well as physical fitness and skills on trade proficiency.

He commended the President of the Board, Brig Gen Ralph Nnabiefe and other board members for the successful conduct of the exercise without recording a single casualty despite the rigours involved. This he said was achieved as a result of deligent and meticulous planning.

The GOC thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja NAM  for the strategic guidance as well as the unflinching and relentless support to the Division which was responsible for the numerous successes recorded by the Division within the joint operations area. He thanked the COAS for approving all the logistics needed which led to the successful conduct of the exercise.
