Recently the all Nigerian principals confederation(ANCOPS) has held its annual workshop in Katsina State of Nigeria, the three days workshop drew members from the north/ western states, comprising Kebbi, sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa, Kano and Kaduna .
According to the acting state chairman Kebbi state ANCOPS Abubakar Abubakar Sambo, the principals gathered there on a theme mandatory continuing professional training (MCPT) to encourage teachers to embrace it as it will go along way in boosting the standard of education in the country, he added that it is called mandatory because every teacher must partake in the training.
He explained that part of the programs that were listed at the workshop included a paper a presentation, the lead paper was presented by professor Emry from Abia State tagged the effects of social media on students academic performance, the professor lamented that, the use of social media or digital age has killed students reading culture, he reminded the students that what they are reading or making reference with was the handiwork of somebody so if he had done what they are now doing there will be no source, he urged teachers and parents to encourage their children /students to always go to libraries to read books and make references.
In a related development an SS2 student Ibrahim Abubakar from Nagari college Kebbi State was announced winner of the northwest esssy competition that was organized by ANCOPS, he contested against six other candidates from six states in the zone, he was given a trotrophy and some text books as prizes, in addition a ticket to attend an international conference that will hold in China was allocated to Kebbi ANCOPS due to the outstanding performance of the boy.
Mr Sambo while thanking the Kebbi State government for supporting the Confederation he called on him to acquire more text books for schools in Kebbi because some of them are not affordable by parents, he thanked all those who attended the Katsina workshop.
