Operatives of the anti bunkering unit of the Nigeria customs Kebbi state command has said that, it has intercepted at least 498 jerrans of 25 liters of petroluem containing 11, 950 liters from smugglers at Yauri water ways in Kebbi state.
According to the area comptroller Jo Attah that, the said contraband products were intended to be smuggled out of the country before they were apprehended and seized by the anti bunkering unit of the Nigeria customs Kebbi state command.
Attah added that for days the command have been monitoring activities around the water ways before deploying the anti petrol bunkering team to seize the items, noting that second hand clothes, fake fertilizers and other items are among the items seized at the water ways in the renewed offensive against smuggling.
While lauding the efforts of various units of the command he urge the neighbouring countries to share information with the command to contain the scourge of rice, used cars and other prohibited items being smuggled in and out of the country ” let us work together to achieve results in the interest of the nation he said
He further said that, the command in this raining season will intensify its patrol at the water ways and all the borders of the state to ensure prohibited items are not smuggled into Kebbi state.
