The organised labour in Kebbi State under the chairmanship of comrade Umar Halidu Alhassan Thursday in a press conference that was held at the labour house in Birnin Kebbi handed down a strong warning to the state government to respect the agreement it has entered on the implementation of minimum consequential adjustment.
Comrade Halidu expressed disappointment over government blatant refusal to honor the agreement, he said Bagudu only set up committee for the excercise but since then nothing has happened.
He outlined yearly increment, backload of gratuities for retired civil servants and payment of leave grants to civil servants from grade 07 to above having paid the junior cardre of workers in the state and the full payment of 2020 leave grants as some of their demands.
The Unionist also described as mischievous the addition of seven thousand naira to civil servants which said do not appear on the retirees computation during payment of gratuities, “the seven thousand added was illegal as we were not contacted we therefore urge the government to revisit the earlier desicion and to implement the minimum wage as approved by the federal government.
The state labour chief further said that, primary school teachers pension contributions that goes to the government coffers must henceforth stopped as they will not hesitate to call for its suspension if the government refused to allocate pension managers to each contributor.
Halidu explained that,the organised labour had written several letters to the government to remind on the need for them to meet the demands of labour to avert any action that may be taken to compel the government, though he refused to define the last option but said the desicion will be taken when next the excos of the union meet,he said Bagudu led government has not been cooperating as it has now exhausted all its option on the table, “before the end of 2020 our demands must be met or else the union will operate within the armbit of the law to force them to do the needful, the press conference had in attendance the state TUC chairman Danjima Abdullahi, state NUT Chairman comrade Isah Arzika, chairman Nigeria civil service union Bala Maigari, state NUJ Chairman Aliyu Jagirma and a host of others.
