A former Governor Imo State, Senator Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has urge Nigerians to build bridges across the country irrespective of their ethnic or political affiliation.
Okorocha state this on Tuesday when he paid a condolence visit to the palace of Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, over the death of one of his cabinet member, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba.
Danbaba, who until his sudden death on Saturday was the Magajin Garin of Sokoto, and the grandson of the late premier of Northern Nigeria.
Speaking while addressing newsmen shortly after his condolence visit at the palace, Okorocha described the late Magajin Garin as someone who make friends across the country irrespective of their religion or ethnic differences.
He described the deceased as a man of peace whose sudden death came to him as a shock. The former governor said Magajin Garin mission in life was how to make Nigerians live a life of fulfilment, not minding their background before his untimely death.
He however charge Nigerians irrespective of their tribe, ethnic or religion difference, to always believe in the unity of the country.
He advised Nigerians to becareful about who leads the country in the next generation elections.
He said, “in 2023, we should be very careful in choosing who leads this country.
“Such person must be someone of choosing track record, someone who cannot divide Nigeria and who can show us what he has done in the past to unite this country”
He said those are the qualities that will help us achieve the Nigeria of our dream going forward.
Earlier, the presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), alongside some students of Rochas Okorocha Foundation paid condolence visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar in his palace, before proceeding to the family house of the late Magajin Garin where he prayed for the repose of his soul
