The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, are set to embark on a three-day private visit to Nigeria, commencing on Friday, May 10, 2024. The purpose of their visit is to interact with wounded soldiers at the invitation of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.

According to Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, Director of Sports at the Defence Headquarters, Prince Harry, the founder of the Invictus Games, will spend three days in Nigeria, engaging with wounded soldiers and their families to support their recovery efforts.

The visit, scheduled from May 10th to May 13th, aims to uplift the spirits of wounded soldiers and contribute to their physical and emotional rehabilitation. AVM Marquis emphasized the positive impact of such engagements on the soldiers’ self-esteem, mental health, and overall well-being.

As a member of the Invictus community, Prince Harry’s visit is expected to bolster the acceptance of the Nigerian Armed Forces and pave the way for Nigeria’s potential hosting of the Invictus Games in the future.

The royal couple will visit Kaduna and Lagos states during their stay in Nigeria, where they will also meet with state governors. Their itinerary includes visits to the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna and engagements with local communities and institutions supported by their non-governmental organization.

In Lagos, Prince Harry and Meghan will interact with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and attend a basketball exhibition match organized for a school supported by their NGO.

The visit concludes with a reception on Sunday before the couple’s departure from Nigeria on Monday. The engagement underscores their commitment to supporting wounded soldiers and promoting social causes globally
