The son of the former Governor of Sokoto State Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa and the state Commissioner for environment has declared his intention to contest governorship election in 2023.
Sagir made the declaration on Thursday at People Democratic party (PDP) secretariat in Sokoto.
Sagir who is the current commissioner serving Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Government administration said he was in the party secretariat to consult and intimate them that he want to run for the governorship election come 2023.
“Friends, party members and the the good people of the state have been mounting pressure on me to join the race , so I have no option than to heed to their calls Sagir stated.
Reeling out his blueprint he said he would focus on Education, Health, Agriculture, Youth and Women empowerment.
He also promised to consolidate on state infrastructure and improve on ease to do business in the state.
He further disclosed that he was “very qualified” for state number one job inview of his experience in private and public sectors.
Speaking the PDP chairman in the state Bello Aliyu Goronyo said Sagir Bafarawa convened the meeting of the party stakeholders to formally inform them of his intention to vie for the office of Governor in 2023.
Goronyo promised that the party would provide a level play ground for all the aspirants.
He noted that the party national headquarters last week called them for a meeting and have released time table for 2023 elections .
