The Nigerian Union of Journalist, Sokoto State Council has called on Sokoto State government to establish ministry of refugee to tackle indiscriminate street begging in the state.

The state council at the end it’s Congress held at the press centre in Sokoto on Saturday described the indiscriminate street begging as a major concern which make cause die consequence if not checked on time.

This is contained in a communique issued and signed by the chairman of the union, Dalhatu Abdullahi Safiya Maigori and the secretary, Muhammad Bello Nasir, respectively.

The council also called on Sokoto state government to as a matter of urgency prevail on owners of A.A Rano and Nura Kure filing stations, along Gusau road to construct drainage in order to control the recurrent flash flood by the stations

“Congress appreciated the federal and Sokoto state government as well as security agencies for their relentless efforts toward addressing security challenges across the state.

“Congress appealed to the state government to evacuate refuse dumps within the Abu Dankure Meat and Vegetable market as well as fill up the potholes at all roundabouts within the metropolis”

While calling on eigible voters who have registered but are yet to collect their PVCs to do so to avoid being disenfranchised. The council further urged Politicians in the country to ensure peaceful electioneering before, during and after the elections.
