Tambuwal’s Flood Control Project Restores, Boost Farming In Goronyo LG—Chairman

The construction of water embarkment to control incessant flood in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state by governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has restored farming activities to the locals, Abdulwahab Yahaya has said.
Goronyo Dam, being one of the largest in West Africa has a reservoir that covers 8,000 hectares and extends some 119km upstream from the Dam. I also also has 15 km-supply canal that carries water from the Dam and distributes same through several hundreds of Kilometre secondary and tertiary canals to sorrounding villages in the local government.
Yahaya, who is the chairman of Goronyo local government added that, aside controlling the yearly disasters orchestrated by oberflown Dam, over 50 people oriented projects have so far been completed with others ongoing in the eleven council wards of the local government by the governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s adminstration
Speaking shortly after taking newsmen round some of the projects, Yahaya added that, the 1.5 mlion litter Semi Water project at Goronyo town executed by the government has help in providing portable drinking water to the locals.
At the flood control site, honourable Abdulwahab Yahaya said, “”The 7 kilometer flood control embarkment was executed in two phases at the cost of 38 million naira””.
Describing the project as a beacon of light in the desert of despair for the locals, Yahaya, added, “and this has helped in controlling flood from washing away farmlands and disrupting human activities””.
The local government chairman further showed other projects executed by the state to include, “”upgrading and expansion of multi million naira Juma’at Central Mosque within the metropolis, denovation of 2 Blocks of 6 classrooms and an office of the Head Master at the Nana Aisha Islamiyya, a block of 3 classroom at Abdullahi Abdullahi Islamiyya Primary School, Women Development Center amongst others”.
Yahaya also listed a stretch of road linking villages of Mariri, Illela, Huda Gare and Godon Mata.
In Rabah and Wurno local government areas of Sokoto State, the storyline is no different, as the two council chairmen pointed out numerous projects being executed by the Aminu Waziri Tambuwal led government.
Giving testimony to the execution of projects in Rabah, the local government chairman, Honourable, Yahaya Abdullahi Gandi said the state government have executed commendable people oriented projects in Rabah.
